Adam and Eve by Titian

The first book in the Old Testament , and the first of five books in the Pentateuch , the book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. It records the creation of all things as well as the birth of the nation of Israel. Genesis also begins the progressive revelation regarding himself that God gave mankind which culminated in Christ . The title Genesis comes from a verse in the Greek Septuagint “the book of the generation (genesis) of the heavens of earth.” The book itself was written between 1450-1410 BC to the people of Israel . According to tradition, and ancient Jewish writers, Moses wrote the book of Genesis.
